Clinical Investigation with Cefadroxil(Cefaroxil^(®)) in Respiratory tract infection

Abstract

|
|
Clinical and laboratory effects were investigated with cefadroxil in 23 cases of pneumonia and 7 cases of acute bronchitis.
As the results improvement was observed in all cases of acute bronchitis, efficacy ratio being 100%. To the contrary, 19 cases of pneumonia with known organism resulted in excellent response in 13 cases (68. 4%), fair response in 4 cases (21. 1 %) and no response i n 2 cases, efficacy ratio being 89.5%.
Clinical symptoms, peripheral blood, hepatic and kidney functions were examined and the results exhibited nausea in 2 cases and diarrhea in 1 case.
From the above results, cefadroxil was proven to be useful for respiratory illness including pneumonia and acute bronchitis.
